Poppelvej is the name of the street in Denmark where winemaker Uffe Deichmann grew up - it comes from Poppel meaning poplar tree, and Vej being the word for street - so Poppelvej is the street of poplars.
Former sommelier Uffe is now based in McLaren Vale, making small-batch wines out of his cellar which has been dug into the side of a hill, and over the last few years has become one of the most exciting young winemakers in the region. This whole bunch fermented Grenache explores the lighter side of this wonderful grape, and captivates with its perfumed aromas and flavours of cherry, blackberry, spices and herbs.
