2019 Côtes Du Rhone Amphora
Domaine Elodie Jaume was born in 2017 following the division of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape property which had been in her family since 1826.
Here Elodie tends her 5 hectare plot with herbal teas and biodynamic preparations, after her interest in biodynamic viticulture was sparked during time working at Cooper Mountain Estate in Oregon, USA. She is dedicated to organic and biodynamic principles, and even hand sows cover crops between the rows of vines to increase biodiversity in the vineyard. This classic Rhone blend is made from 60% Grenache (from 70-90 year old vines), 20% Syrah (50 year old vines), 20% Mourvedre (70 year old vines) and is aged in amphora before bottling and resting in bottle before its release. It's lighter in colour, yet medium-bodied and displays red and dark fruits with a rustic earthyness. Fun to compare with Australian GSM's, but a lovely Rhone example for lovers of this style. Looking forward to seeing more from Elodie!
