A magnificent beast!
This sweetish fortified wine is made in the local Macvin style of the Jura region. First, very ripe Chardonnay grapes are picked and then gently heated to evaporate water and concentrate the fruit sugars. The Bornards make a traditional alcohol in their cellar from grape must, which is then added to the grape juice. It is then aged in barrel for at least seven years! This style of wine is traditionally drunk as an aperitif in the morning or with sweet dishes during a meal. Truly unique!
