Notes from Micah, the winemaker...
In 2021 it was “The Orange Rosé of the Pyrenees", this year from two different vineyards in two Vic cool climate valleys. This is the wine I was trying to make in 2021 and i'm so happy that in 2022 I think i've achieved it. Fresh, vibrant, slightly nutty oxidative (desiccated coconut to be precise - imo) with that touch of salinity that Vermentino brings. yum. 21 day carbonically fermented Tooborac Vermentino (55%) blended with whole bunch Keilor Valley Viognier (30%) that was macerated in direct pressed Syrah (15%) for 7 days. Oxidative elevage - untopped in old oak for 8 months. Racked to stainless to settle for 1 month prior to bottling. No additions.
