Éric Texier was a nuclear engineer before making wine!
Based in the virtually forgotten area of Brézème, Northern Rhone, Éric makes special wines with a minimalist outlook. He views soil management within the vineyard as one of the most critical aspects as a vigneron. For whites he looks to direct press and use of concrete vats, whereas reds mostly undergo whole bunch fermentation. 100% Syrah from his younger vines in Ardèche on the northern bank of the Ouvèz. Whole-cluster fermented and aged in concrete on fine lees for 18-24 months. A warmer site than Brézème leads to a more rustic Syrah. Energetic, mineral, almost dark chocolate liqueur-esq. A red with a lot to give.
